• New bike! Great day!
    13 Sep 2025

Today I got to ride my new bike. Well, it’s a 2017, but it is new to me. It’s a townie E bike. But you basically have to pedal the whole time which was my plan to do especially during this challenge. I’ve been struggling because of my asthma, but I have to tell you today was amazing. I was able to go up over two viaducts like there were nothing at all. It was amazing. I usually average 10 miles an hour. But today with my E bike I did 12 to 13 miles an hour. I rode 15 miles. In just a little over an hour. I think I was grinning the entire ride. I have now gone 78 miles of my 100 miles for the month of September and today is only the 12th.

    How awesome is that!

Today, September 1, 2025. I rode 11 miles. I had planned on going further but at about mile five there was a huge viaduct. With my asthma it was pretty tricky. I geared down to first gear of my 21 gears and just kept saying to myself I can do this, you got this, keep going, don’t give up, you’re almost there, just a little further, I made it.! But it took me nearly 4 miles after that to catch my breath. I had to stop at one point and take off my jacket and just breathe. That was rough, making it the 7 miles back. But I did it. Now I feel like bragging that I went 11 miles. I see all the other post of people who’s gone 20 and 30 miles and more but that’s OK. I’ve started my part. And I’m hoping to reach 100.

  • My 6th year riding for GCC!
    31 Aug 2025

My ride starts tomorrow. I’m very excited and a little worried. I’m hoping I can complete the hundred miles and maybe even plus this year. I know it’s not gonna be easy because of my continually increasing asthma. But I’m very determined and dedicated. I’m pretty excited about the support and the donations that I’ve received so far.

I had my bike cleaned and tuned last week. And I took it out for a spin yesterday. I went over 7 1/2 miles on my first ride of the year. I was very pleased and surprised that it didn’t wear me out at all . I will have to start each morning by getting up at five so I can be on my bike by 5:45. So then I can make it back to work in time by 9:45.
