My plan to cruise a few miles in Patuxent Research Refuge was upended as the gate was closed and locked when I arrived. I developed a plan B and headed out on a new adventure. In the end, I had traversed the road less travelled to safely arrive back where I started. It was a good ride. π΄πΎπ₯°
The final day had fewer miles and more ascent! The crew accepted the challenge and the distance ticked off with an uncanny ease.
Day 3 presented all riders with several thousand feet of climb, with most of the ascent being in the last half of the ride. Our group of four riders got caught in the rain climbing the last hill before the finish. Save the healthy dose of liquid sunshine, we had great weather for a great ride.
Day 1 is in the books! Riding with friends from my last assignment. I also have a pic of 21, 23, and me. M2M is in its 4th year with 290 riders reigstered and about 210 riding all four days. 19 Sep is Century Day! Giddy up. PS: 21 and 23 refer to their tenure as Chief Staff of the Air Force.
This is my go-to long route. I spend about half the distance on portions of the WB & A Trail. Today, I decided to make a stop at The Big Bean. My cortado was "muy bueno". I shared a high-top table with Dee and had a great conversation about shared interests in cycling, sailing, and motorcycles. Sadly, a major irregular road to bridge transition caused an unrepairable flat and my route was cut short due to a mechanical failure.
This is my go-to ride when I'm time limited. The segments always get the best out of me even when I say that I'm going to take it easy. ππ€£
