I'm Riding For
Sam

Sam is the strongest person I know. He was diagnosed with a very rare form of B Cell ALL on June 28, 2022, the summer before his junior year in high school, just after trying out and making the National Premiere League soccer team for his age group. He was as healthy and strong as he’d ever been. Now he’s even stronger. As we begin this year’s Great Cycle Challenge, Sam is starting his sophomore year at Bates College. He’s studying Economics and Chinese and he spent his summer volunteering at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital visiting young adults who had recently been diagnosed with cancer or were receiving a stem cell transplant. He gave hope to many young people this summer. Zack and I hope to follow in his footsteps by doing this Great Cycle Challenge to raise money for research. Cancer research has been decimated and we need to keep investing so that the clinical trials, like the one that saved Sam’s life, continue. Thank you for donating!
My Story
September 1,2025
Sent Sam back to Bates College for his Sophomore year. ❤️
September 29, 2024:
Sam is 18 months post transplant today. I rode 11.5 miles in his honor. ❤️❤️💪🏼💪🏼💛💛
Update for 2024:
Sam is 17 months post transplant and I just had the great joy of moving him into his first year of college at Bates in Lewiston, ME! He’s healthy and happy and ready for this new chapter. I couldn’t be more proud.
I also recognize that he’s alive because so many people have worked tireless hours over countless years researching new medicines and developing clinical trials. We need more medicines that are developed specifically for kids and young adults though — not just “modified” doses of medicines that were developed for adults.
Please donate to support childhood cancer research. Kids, teens, and young adults deserve more than 4% of the cancer research money!

From September 2023:
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge in honor of my son Sam, and all the warriors, survivors, and angels. We need more research to develop lifesaving treatments and medicines that help survivors too.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change lives of young adults, teens, kids and infants —- all of whom should be living their best lives and having fun *not* be battling cancer.
Thank you.
