This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

This year, I have a former student affected by cancer. I have worked with his father for several years and taught his brother previously. This youngster is VERY tough! I ride for Trevor this year!

In addition, during my brother's fight with cancer I was yet again humbled by a former student who was also watching her own brother battle this disease. My students are some of the most amazing people there are. If you are able, please consider donating as I ride in memory of Sahl this month.

While not a kid anymore, a former student of the same junior high and high school of my sons is battling cancer currently. He is still very young and will see supports that kids battling cancer many times see.
