I'm Riding For
Brian D. Anderson

My best friend...my brother-from-another-mother...loved kids. He didn't have any of his own (that he knows of), but he loved other people's kids. Even on his multiple deployments to Iraq, he made it his job to do what he could help the children. He channeled funds to schools, got school supplies, medicines...whatever he could. He took it very hard when bad things happened to them. Unfortunately, Brian passed away last year unexpectedly. He was an avid biker and his prized beach cruiser was gifted to me. It is the same cruiser I am using for the Great Cycle Challenge. I think he would get a kick out of me doing this with his bike. He would be happy that others are helping children. He understood that kids transcend politics, wars, and disagreements. They are truly innocent and deserve their chance at life. Any donation you can give will help give them that. Thanks.
My Story
Look, I'll be honest with you.
I was mainly looking at the Great Cycle Challenge to motivate myself to get on the bike...set a mileage goal and work to achieve it. I was planning to just donate the amount I pledged to raise because I *do* believe in the cause, but I feel very strange about asking for money, especially since I have so little of it and I'm not one to ask people to give up theirs.
But it seems to me that there are people out there who ARE in a place where they can donate and WANT to donate to a good cause. Well, I can't think of very many causes better than trying to beat childhood cancer. Any cancer, really. But kids...they deserve a chance at life. If you are in a place where you can contribute, please consider donating here and allowing my fundraising site to be that conduit. I will continue ride and maybe even push to bring more awareness. Again, I'm not pressuring you to donate. Only do so if you can AND want to. You have my thanks and the thanks of thousands of kids and their families.
