My seventh (whew) year riding for this important cause and organization, I will again be peddling throughout the month of September in support of the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer. My goal is to pedal 400 miles throughout the month, but I will be trying to beat that. My more important goal is to raise more than $1500 doing it. I am starting my fundraiser later than in past years (September starts tomorrow!), so I have missed out on some fundraising time and set by goal a bit more cautiously, but I feel confident in the support of friends and family to put me over my goal, and who knows - maybe I will still beat last year.

Last year, almost to the day, I lost my brother Thomas to cancer, the second member of my family. His loss as an adult was painful - I cannot imagine learning your child has to fight this horrible disease. Believe it or not, cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in the United States – 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it, and so I am taking on this challenge to help further vital research into beating childhood cancer and saving young lives. All funds raised will support Children's Cancer Research Fund to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
