Today I jump on my bike and start my 100 mile Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer. I do this to create awareness and raise money to irradicate childhood cancer and honor the brave and courageous kids fighting this terrible disease.

Some of you know I have struggled with a very painful arthritic knee this summer that has kept me from doing everything I want; but a promise is a promise. It just breaks my heart to know that more than 15,700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year in the United States, and 38 kids die every week. So as long as I can peddle my bike (albeit slowly) I pledge to ride 100 miles.

Even tho I have no children of my own, I am making a commitment to ride and raise money. Help me help the doctors and researchers to continue their work developing lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.

I bike nearly everyday with one of my yorkies in tow but 100 miles in 30 days is a huge commitment for me, but if it means a brighter healthier future for those children we'll do it!
